Joanne Goodchild

Joanne is a European Trade Mark Attorney (ETMA) and Chartered Trade Mark Attorney (MCITMA). Joanne has acted as a trade mark attorney for private individuals as well as large commercial organisations and local authority/educational establishments. She is adaptable to working within client-specific restrictions such as time-scales and budgetary confines. She is a successful negotiator and can advise on not only core trade mark issues, but also matters such as domain names and other unauthorised trade mark use on-line. Her portfolio management assistance is valued by owners of registered trade marks for general post-registration matters such as correct trade mark usage, transfers of rights, licensing and periodical reviews.

Technical
Joanne is highly experienced in all areas of trade mark law, having been in the profession since 1997. Since this time she has assisted clients in choosing distinctive trade marks and clearing them for use both in the UK and overseas. She is adept at gaining an understanding of a client’s area of business for the purpose of securing the appropriate level of protection and alerting clients of potential threats as well protecting their trade mark investment and enforcing both registered and unregistered trade mark rights. Her experience encompasses not only representation before the UK IPO and EUIPO but also overseas and she has developed a strong network of contacts throughout the world.

Howard is a European Patent Attorney (EPA), Chartered Patent Attorney (CPA) and European Design Attorney (EDA). Howard was also awarded a distinction in the LLM in Intellectual Property Law at The University of Manchester. He has experience of drafting and prosecuting patent applications at the UKIPO and EPO, and has a profound understanding of the business challenges in industry and academia, particularly in developing innovation to meet market demands while maximizing the returns on investment. He is focused on achieving the full value of intellectual property, by applying business, science & engineering and intellectual law expertise to deliver your innovation strategy.

Technical
Howard has expertise in software and computing that combines a MSc in Computing with industrial and academic experience to address challenges in real-time control systems, mathematical modelling, data analysis and user experience. Howard has applied his MA in Natural Science and PhD in Metallurgy to advance science and technology, from nanostructures to heavy engineering, for leading analytical instrumentation, engineering and academic organisations. He has detailed and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques, from electron microscopy to differential scanning calorimetry, and workshop techniques, from welding to gear cutting. Additionally, Howard has industrial experience with renewable energy, including wind & solar, and non-renewable energy, including oil, gas & nuclear, together with environmental monitoring building on his BSc (Hons) in Technology.
